Web-based systems offer huge advantages over conventional software because of the inherent advantages of the internet. Access is available from nearly any location on a variety of devices. Systems can be designed for employees to coordinate activities, for existing customers to access their accounts in realtime, or for partner companies to efficiently exchange information.
In addition to the benefits there are considerable challenges in migrating data and securing access for only your desired audience. It is important that your system be designed with these types of issues identified and solved from the beginning. We have experience in developing systems from the ground up, addressing all considerations.

My workshops are highly interactive and hands-on by alternating between lecture and explorative environments spending approximately equal time in each. New concepts and information will be presented to the classes along with detailed examples. Then we will open up the learning space for discussion. Participants will then have the opportunity to practice what they have seen on their own with assistance and guidance.
I modify the agenda whenever I run one of them to tailor the specifics to the needs of my audience. Each workshop day will consist of two 3-hour sessions with a 1-hour lunch break, followed by an hour for additional questions. Typically, for 1-2 days directly following each training session I make myself available as a mentoring resource to the course participants to assist them in the development of their current projects. This will allow a smooth transition between learning new concepts in a controlled education environment and juggling a practical, real world situation.
Students will be taught how to take advantage of the powerful ActionScript language embedded within Macromedia Flash. They will learn how to properly structure code and gain familiarity with the functions of ActionScript. They will also be given the opportunity to write their own functions in order to complete a series of complex tasks. Participants will leave the class with an understanding of the structure of ActionScript code that will enable them to independently write their own code.
One-day Workshop
One of the best, and often overlooked features of Flash, is the ability to segment a complex interaction into a series of smaller objects. Students will learn how to look for opportunities to exploit this feature by dissecting an example. Each member of the eCollege multimedia team will create an interactive screen with a variety of dynamic features. Then, the common elements will be separated into smaller reusable components. Even the content will be pulled out of the interaction and replaced with ActionScript that will dynamically insert text and pictures onto the screen. Finally, the ActionScript will pull all content from separate XML files formatted for easy updates. Every course participant will gain the knowledge of how to identify what pieces could be made reusable and how to best accomplish that goal.
Three-day Workshop
dHTML is comprised of layers, JavaScript, and CSS files. Through the use of dHTML a great deal of interactivity and formatting can be added to a web page without the need for plug-ins. However, each browser interprets these elements differently, which can cause severe problems. This course will focus on the expansive powers of dHTML and how to handle frustrating browser issues. Participants will gain the understanding of various ways to use dHTML, and make the major browsers behave without having to re-code pages for each of them.
Two-day Workshop
When working with the content of a lesson, there are many ways to separate the facts. There are also several paths to present that information to the users. People learn differently, so delivering data in a variety of methods, taking advantage of more of their senses, can heighten the user's ability to retain information. This course will focus on differing types of media and the discussion of when utilizing each is appropriate. Strong Possibilities will teach its class which 'tricks' can be used to capture the user's attention - from the use of metaphor in courseware design to the use of interactivity, even through games. Using these techniques, dry, boring, or highly technical content can be displayed in a way that is memorable. Every participant of this course will come away with a multitude of new ideas in regards to how to communicate lessons more vividly.
One-day Workshop
In general, it is thought that people gain knowledge faster by 'doing' than by 'hearing' or 'seeing' alone. The goal of any piece of courseware material is to engrain concepts into the user. Encouraging the user to interact with the course is beneficial in that their hands-on training will further embed the information. There are a wide variety of interactions that can be implemented to fully engage the user in the topics they are learning. This class will explore what these options are and what the pros and cons are for each. The students will then practice creating interactions of their own.
One-day Workshop
Flash is capable of using external media files, such as pictures, audio, or video clips. This course will focus on how to setup scripts that will load and manage these elements at playback. Every person who attends this class will come away from it with the knowledge of how to integrate external files into their own Flash interactions.
Two-day Workshop
Creating simple shapes and animations in Flash is relatively easy, but there is a great deal more that can be done with the proper training. This course will focus on more complex designs, such as using transparency and color effects. We will cover advanced animation techniques including masking, motion guides and shape morphing. Flash does not actually have any three dimensional functionality, however there are a lot of ways to give the illusion that it does. To that end we will go over traditional animation techniques and discuss how these concepts can apply to Flash. We will also learn about other tools that aid in lightening the workload, lessening the timetable of many projects.
Three-day Workshop
The Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) defines a Web-based learning "Content Aggregation Model" and "Run-Time Environment" for learning objects. SCORM is a collection of specifications adapted from multiple sources to provide a comprehensive suite of e-learning capabilities that enable interoperability, accessibility and reusability of Web-based learning content. Unfortunately, the SCORM "standards" are often only used as "guidelines" by the development community, making it possible to have courseware and systems that are both SCORM compliant, yet still have difficulty communicating with each other. A typical SCORM implementation requires adjustments to make sure that courses are speaking the same "flavor" of SCORM with their Learning Management System (LMS).
This course will be a real-world exploration into what SCORM is and how it works. Then, we will delve into specific examples of how to modify Flash and JavaScript activities to be SCORM compatible with an LMS. This will include how to post information to the system, such as scores and bookmarking, and how to pull information about the student, such as name and email address, from the system.

Design and Development Services
We bid each project on an individual basis, based on an estimate of time and materials. We take each client's vision and help to balance that with a budget that works for them. In order to establish an acurate estimate before we begin any project we go through several steps.
The first time we meet with a prospective customer, we listen to their needs and discuss how we can help. Then we document this discussion in the form of a proposal that clearly outlines the details of the potential project, including the services we will provide, a cost estimate for all of our professional fees, and an estimated time frame from start to finish.
